GST Council Meet: ‘We retained status quo on textile’, says Sitharaman

The 46th meeting of the Tax Council of Goods and Services (GST) was held in the national capital under the leadership of the Minister of Finance Union Nirmala Sitharaman. The State Minister of State and the United States and Senior Official attended a meeting at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The meeting took place before the Union budget for 2022-23, which is scheduled to be presented in parliament on February 1, 2022.

At 3.25: During the previous GST board meeting, the members had decided to increase GST on textiles to 12 percent from 5 percent, and footwear under ₹ 1,000 per pair up to 12 percent from 5 percent.
