The largest car maker in the country Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) expects its sales momentum to continue with a gradual increase in semiconductor inventories and strong demand situations in the domestic market, the top company official said on Wednesday.
In the interaction with PTI on the sidelines of the launch of the All-New Baleno, Managing Director of MSI and CEO Kenichi Ayukawa said that the company could even reach the peak volume level 2018-19 if the supply of chips remained adequate.
The total sales of MSI in 2018-19 established in the 18.62 lakh unit while in the April-January fiscal period, the company reported a total sales of 13.18 lakh units.
Ayukawa stated that the large volume lost automatically last year because of Covid-19 and then due to lack of chips.
“If the situation increases, we can increase the volume supply because demand is there. We can provide a good volume to the market. That means growth continues. If we can receive a fairly good volume of components and with strong demand, we can easily . Reach the Volume level 2018-19, “he said.
He noted that the government has presented a very aggressive budget that will help in economic growth.
Demand remains strong and the only main concern is the lack of components, said Ayukawa.
“We believe that we have a lot of potential and we have a large production capacity, more than two million. The Third factory Gujarat has begun to operate, we add 2.5 lakh production capacity there. If the conditions get better, we can produce closure. For two million volumes easily, “said Ayukawa.
At the launch of a new product, Ayukawa said: “We have recognized our weak point, we are preparing these points. The development of such products occurs. And also the model of life is like six years and several models reach the end of life.”
When asked about the upcoming cafe (the average fuel efficiency of the company), he stated that the company expected relaxation.
“But it depends on the direction of the government, we must follow it. As an industry, we ask for several benefits … we did not get a response from the government clearly,” Ayukawa said.
He noted that while the industry was looking for relief, the government on the other hand strives to encourage the overall economy.
In the new factory company in Haryana, Ayukawa noted that this project has not received a final permit.
On exports, he noted that shipping increased due to strong demand throughout the global market.
MSI is currently exporting most of its models to Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, Ayukawa states.
He noted that Major automatically focuses primarily on CNG and electricity when it comes to alternative fuels.
“Flex-fuel is also a good idea to reduce oil imports,” he added. At EVS, Ayukawa stated that the company remained on track to introduce its first product in 2025.
The launch of more models will depend on the demand scenario and the development of the charging infrastructure, it notes.
In the safety aspects of the MSI car, he noted that the company model in accordance with applicable government regulations.
But he stated that there was a need to analyze and find a solution to the high number of accidents that occurred on the streets of India.
