Bharti Airtel Ltd on August 8 reported a leap of 467 percent of years-year-year in the consolidated net profit at 1,607 Crore Hospital for the quarter ended 30 June 2022, assisted by the addition of customers and higher income per user. However, in sequence, profit dropped by 20 percent.
Telecom Major Consolidation Revenue rose 22 percent yoy to 32,805 crore hospitals. In sequence, up 4 percent.
The growth of years-year-year is assisted by the addition of healthy customers and an increase in average income per user (ARPU), the main measure of performance in the telecommunications industry, after a round of tariff increase.
“This has become a solid quarter and we continue to provide strong and sustainable growth at 4.5 percent in sequence,” said MD & CEO of Gopal Vittal
Income for the Indian business increased 23.8 percent in the year to RS 23,319 Crore.
In the Indian business, revenue from cellular services jumped 27.4 percent of the year, while from the Airtel business it increased by 15.2 percent.
The addition of customers helps the growth of 41.9 percent yoy in home business income. The second largest telecommunications operator in India now has a 36.2 Crore customer base.
Revenue for African business in constant currencies increased by 15.3 percent in the year and now has 13.16 Crore customers on the continent.
Operational spotlight
The company added 2 4G Crore customers in the past year, where 45 LAKH was added in the June quarter.
Mobile ARPU increased to RS 183 during the April-June period from RS 146 during the quarter last year.

Cellular data consumption during this quarter rose 16.6 percent in the year, with consumption per cellular data in 19.5 GB per month.
Home business added 14 customer lakh during the quarter, with a digital TV customer base reaching 1.74 Crore.
Transactions through Airtel Payments Bank jumped 65 percent to the year.
Margin
EBITDA Consolidation (income before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization) is in hospital 16,604 Crore, up 26 percent from last year’s quarter, while the EBITDA margin increased 150 bps to 50.6 percent.
One basis of points is a hundredth of the percentage points.
The Indian business managed to increase its EBITDA by 23.8 percent in the year to RS 23,319 Crore, with the EBITDA margin expanding 170 bps to 51 percent.
EBITDA margin for African business rose 54 bps in the year by 48.8 percent.
Capex
The company issued a total Capex RS 6,398 Crore during this quarter, with RS 5,288 Crore entering the Indian business and RS 1,088 Crore in Africa.
The company also bought 19,867.8 MHz spectrum for RS 43,040 Crore in the new 5G auction.

Stocks closed 0.18 percent higher in RS 705 on the National Stock Exchange. It has appreciated 18 percent over the past year but remains flat for this month.
