DGCA has extended the prohibition of regular international flights until additional orders. However, operating flights in the form of an air bubble as well as international cargo flights will continue to operate as planned.

While DGCA and the Civil Aviation Ministry had proposed to lift the prohibition, a head of the Ministry of Health and the well-being of the family was crucial, which closely monitored the situation of COVID-19.

Prohibition and air bubble arrangements

The prohibition of planned international passenger flights has been in place in India since March 23, 2020. However, special passenger flights work between India and about 40 countries since July 20, 2020 in air bubble arrangements.

India currently has air transport bubbles with 40 countries, including Canada, France, Germany, United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The DGCA, in January, extended the suspension of international flights from and to India, given the cases of increasing coronaviruses around the world.

It is a conviction that the Center could resume international flights from the end of March, or at the beginning of the summer schedule for airlines.

Indian carriers at some point used nearly 3,000 flights during the pre-Covid-19 period. The aviation sector is looking for a reduction in excise duties on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), even if it is fighting the impact of Covid-19 on the company.
