Volkswagen finally launched Virtus in the Indian market. This is the second product under the India 2.0 Volkswagen strategy. Before Virtus, Skoda launched its Slavia which shared many components and bases with virtus. We know what the two sedans share so today, we include the difference between the sedan.
Engine & gearbox
Both sedans come with the same engine and gearbox but there is one difference. So, there are two turbocharged gasoline engines offered. 1.0 liter engine, three -cylinder and 1.5 liter engine, four -cylinder. 1.0 TSI produces 115 PS and 178 Nm while 1.5 TSI produces 150 PS and 250 Nm.
1.0 TSI is offered with 6-speed manual gearbox or 6-speed automatic gearbox. In Slavia, 1.5 TSI is mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox or 7-speed DSG gearbox while Volkswagen offers a 1.5 TSI virtus with only 7-speed DSG. So, if you consider yourself a hardcore fan and want a strong machine with a manual gearbox then you should buy Slavia.
Size
Slavia and virtus are based on the same MQB-A0-in platform. This means that both have a wheelbase 2,651 mm. The boot room is also the same in 521 liters. However, that’s where the similarity ends. Virtus is longer, wider and higher than Slavia. Measuring 4,561 mm long, width 1,752 mm and height of 1,507 mm. When compared, Slavia is 4,541 mm high, 1,725 mm wide and 1,487 mm high.
Exterior design
Design is a personal preference. Slavia looks elegant and slim. It has a class and looks like an octavian baby. On the other hand, Virtus has a sharp edge and a simpler but slimmer but sharper design.
If you choose the GT version then you also get a fainting element and rear spoiler that gives a sporty look.
Design interior
Slavia interior feels more premium and spacious due to black and beige treatment. This gets a two-spoke steering wheel with black piano inserts. The steering wheel is lifted directly from Skoda Octavia.
Virtus also has a black and beige interior on dynamic lines but has an easier and more German look. In addition, if you get Trim GT then you get red inserts in the dashboard, and red accents throughout the interior, yes, virtus does feel far sporty, especially in the GT trim.
Price
When it comes to the price, Slavia is more affordable when starting from the hospital. 10.99 Lakh Ex-Showroom while Volkswagen Virtus starts from the hospital. 11.22 LAKH EX-SHOWROOM. However, the story is a little different when we compare the trim for the two sedans. DSG 1.5 Top-end Slavia is valued at the hospital. 18.31 Lakh Ex-Showroom and Volkswagen Virtus at a cost of 1.5 DSG RS. 17.91 Lakh Ex-Showroom.
