Indigo Hikes pilot salary of 8% from April 1

The domestic flight giant Indigo has climbed the salary of the pilot of 8 percent with the effect of April 1, CNBC-TV18 reported.

“Now, because we have established a continuous stable operation, on behalf of our implementation director, the board of directors and senior leadership team, I am happy to announce the upward revision of 8 percent in all our pilots with effects from April 1,” Ashim Mittra said, Senior Vice President (Flight Operations), Indigo, in communiques to pilots, PTI reported.

He added that the company’s HR team will share a revised salary structure with the pilot “in the coming weeks”.

Furthermore the country’s second largest airline will begin a 6.5 percent increase from November 2022 if there is no further disturbance.

Partners say, “When we look forward to the positive income environment and hopefully we don’t witness further disturbances to surgery, we also plan to implement a revision of 6.5 percent additional effects of 1.”

This happened after their salary was revised down during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Businesses in the travel sector, tourism and hospitality witness mass layoffs and cutting payments in the middle of a pandemic when countries impose severe locking for 2020 and 2021 to prevent transmission.

Indian domestic airlines opened on October 18 last year and the country’s international airways were fully opened last month on March 27.

In May 2020, Indigo has revised their pilot’s salary structure to cut a salary of up to 40 percent.

Many senior airline pilots have received emails from the company leave planner, asking them to choose from two options, each involving salary cuts. One includes a salary structure with 42 annual leaves and the second will have a pilot takes one week every month. They used to have a package including 22 annual leave.

Before this, he revised the provisions of the pilot contract that was undergoing training, with new terms including up to 50 percent of salary deductions and roster changes.

This after the operator has cut payments in various levels depending on the employee group.
